Meant to Be
An inspiring film that opens up your mind to the greatness that God has got planed for each and every life. “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.” Romans 8:28
Meant to Be is the story of a young man who after losing his career and his girlfriend started questioning his purpose in life. He grew up in foster homes and never met his birth mother, so in finding his purpose and who he is, he decides to go looking for her. When he arrives at the city of his birth, he checks into a hotel and meets Mave (Della Reese – Touched by an Angel) the housekeeper who encourages him to see the beauty in everyday, while seeming to know more about him than he does himself.
In another aspect of his story we see his mother who is a social worker, agonizing over the decision she made 20 years ago with regards to her pregnancy. She is currently helping a conflicted teenager thinking about having an abortion with support in an effort to admonish her own guilt.
As the story unfolds the young man discovers a horrible truth about his life that changes and completely redefines who he is. Through a very different way, this film teaches us about the perfect plan that God has for every single life that He has created. Meant to Be sends a clear message to abortion advocates and to women who are struggling with this decision. It teaches of God’s amazing mercy and forgiveness if you have made mistakes in your life and how even in those His purpose shines through.
The plot can be explained as a parable, it’s not based on truth or facts as much as trying to get the point across that there is a purpose for every life that God has created. The acting in this film wasn’t always that great, but the story line is strong enough to make you look past that.
