Star Trek Into Darkness is the second modernised Star Trek Film that has been released in the last couple of years, where the first focussed more on the beginning of Kirk and Spock’s legacies. In this film we see that legacy continuing with the great characters that have always made this such a successful franchise.

Even though J.J. Abrams has started a brand new version of Star Trek, he has chosen to keep it as iconic as possible, while picking up the pace to accommodate a modern audience. The look and feel of the characters along with some of the camera work has a very classic edge to it to keep the original feel, but obviously special effects wise it is a great improvement.

The new Star Trek movies allow you the space to really believe what is happening on-screen, with lots of effort being put into filming in real spaces instead of using the green screen often to fill the blanks. This makes for convincing acting and visuals, which definitely ups the game.

I have to admit that I am no expert on the original films, so you might disagree with me, but I did find that the new actors have all embraced their roles and kept them interesting and defined, so there is no concern for them not measuring up to the old ones.

This is a good film that you will definitely enjoy if Sci-Fi is your thing and also if you enjoyed the first one and if you haven’t yet seen it, I found that it does help to watch the previous one before watching “Into Darkness”. It just helps you to understand the dynamics of the characters in this film.
